Ear Appearance
Azlan F1 ears are well-uniform and compact, with tightly packed deep yellow kernels in 16–20 rows. The cob is small, delivering a high percentage of usable kernel mass during processing – a key advantage for canning and freezing operations. Ears are consistent in size and shape, suitable for direct retail and industrial processing lines alike.
Plant and Yield
Azlan F1 is an early hybrid maturing in approximately 75 days. Plants are vigorous with ear insertion at around 65 cm – a convenient height for mechanised harvesting. The hybrid delivers high stand uniformity and stable yield across varying soil types and climatic conditions. It has been validated in production and trial fields across the USA, Europe, and international programmes. Find it at theseeds.shop.

How should Azlan F1 be sown – density, spacing and seeding rate?
Recommended plant population is 5,000 – 5,500 plants/decare with row spacing of 70–85 cm and 20–25 cm within the row. Seeding rate is 1–1.5 kg/decare, at 3–5 seeds/g. Block planting (minimum 4 rows) is recommended for better pollination and even ear development.
What is the germination temperature for the seeds?
A minimum soil temperature of 12–14°C is required for reliable germination. Sowing below this threshold leads to uneven emergence and stand losses.
What are the main growing risks?
Azlan F1 carries high resistance to common rust (Ps – HR) and intermediate resistance to northern leaf blight (Et – IR) and maize mosaic virus (MDMV – IR). In wet seasons, monitoring for Et and MDMV is important. Isolation from field corn is mandatory – minimum 300 m or a 14-day difference in sowing date.
Which markets and applications is Azlan F1 suited for?
The primary use is industrial processing – canning and freezing. The small cob and deep kernels deliver a high proportion of usable mass, reducing waste on processing lines. Well-uniform ears also make it suitable for fresh market whole ear sales.
How does it perform across different conditions – and is it suited for mechanised harvesting?
The hybrid has been validated in production fields across the USA, Europe, and international programmes, performing consistently across varied soils and climates. Ear insertion at approximately 65 cm is well suited for mechanised harvesting, and high stand uniformity ensures even ripening and predictable yield.
